SHERRY CRAIG RETZLER
Licensed Massage Therapist, AL Lic#3802
Growing up in Ohio as a child and then northern Alabama as a teenager and young adult, my life's path took me to South Carolina where I met my military husband who took me to places outside our wonderful United States of America that would leave a person speechless. Those experiences humbled me at an early age. I learned how to deal with change and made me appreciate my country, everything I had, and the good people in my life.
As living a military life requires moving around a lot, my working career was usually determined by what types of jobs were open at the time at the next duty station. I first worked as the first female newspaper press person in Pulaski, TN. Jobs that followed were as a financial assistant, secretary, legal assistant, paralegal, and 10 years as a financial analyst working for the Defense Department.
When my husband retired from the Navy, we moved back to Alabama where I started new careers as a realtor and now massage therapist. I truly believe that massage therapy is THE most rewarding job I've ever had!
I wish I had found massage therapy a long time ago. But better late than never and I've always believed that everything happens as it should. But I have to give my father the credit for my becoming a massage therapist. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that someday I would pursue that career. While Daddy was living, he would always ask if I would massage his scalp and neck, or feet and legs, so I let my "mothering instincts" kick in and massaged him the best I could. I remember how he always told me how much it eased his aches and pains, and how good that made me feel to provide that for him. He cared for me when I was little and now it was time for me to pay it back. After Daddy passed unexpectedly, I had a hard time accepting my loss and needed a career change that would provide once again that rewarding feeling of making others feel good. Since I faint at the sight of blood, I knew nursing would not be in the cards for me, BUT massage therapy WOULD! So I pursued it, conquered it, and here I am today. And I'm SO thankful I did!
As a massage therapist, my primary aim is to help people de-stress and aid in the healing and good health of their mind, body, and spirit. What a wonderful feeling it is to help someone feel better... this is my way of paying it forward!
